Identity Retreat Pt 1
This powerful teaching invites us into a profound exploration of our true identity—not as the world defines us, but as God declares us to be. Drawing from Ephesians 2:8-10 and Genesis 1:27-28, we're reminded that we are God's workmanship, created in His image to reflect His character to the world. The message challenges us to examine the 'weeds' that have grown over our God-given identity: the lies we believe about ourselves, the projected images we maintain, and the idols we cling to when life feels uncertain. Through the lens of God's communicable and incommunicable attributes, we discover that knowing who God is—eternal, omniscient, merciful, wise—becomes the foundation for understanding who we are. We're called to put off the lies that say 'I'm not enough' or 'I'm too much' and receive the truth that we are chosen, forgiven, seen, and secure in Christ. This isn't about achieving perfection but about participating faithfully in the unique expression of mission God has given each of us. The teaching culminates in a beautiful prayer exercise of laying down our false identities and receiving our true identity as beloved daughters, fellow heirs, and temples of the Holy Spirit—anchored not in our performance but in Christ's finished work.
