A Study of 1-3 John: Week 1

What does it mean to truly know someone? Not just know about them, but know them deeply enough that your love for them grows the more you learn? That is the heart of what we are stepping into as we open the letters of John together. These three short letters carry an enormous weight of truth, written by someone who walked with Jesus, witnessed his transfiguration, stood at the foot of the cross, and saw the empty tomb with his own eyes. John writes not as a distant theologian but as an eyewitness, and his purpose is clear: he wants us to have assurance. Assurance that the Jesus we believe in is real, that the gospel is true, and that eternal life is not a distant hope but a present reality. Along the way, we will encounter themes of light and darkness, truth and deception, love and hate. We will be challenged to examine whether our beliefs actually have footprints in our lives, whether what we say we believe is shaping how we live, how we love, and what we reach for. The invitation here is not just to accumulate Bible knowledge. It is to know the God of the Bible so well that our hearts are transformed and our joy becomes something the world around us cannot ignore.
